What is the time commitment?
- Volunteer: No minimum hours
- Part Time Per Diem (Paid): 12-hour shifts as able, averaging at least one shift per month
- Part Time Regular (Paid): Weekly 12-hour shifts
- Full Time (Paid): 48 hours/week with two 24-hour shifts or one 48-hour shift
What positions does Dryden Ambulance hire?
Clinicians with an EMT certification or higher. Must be at least 21 years old and able to drive. A background check is required as part of the application process.
Two rigs are staffed 24/7 and 365 days a year.

What is the process to become a volunteer?
Submit your interest form and the New Member Committee will reach out to you to discuss your goals and share more about the department. Following the interview, your application will go before the membership for a vote. Once you join the department, you will receive the necessary training.
Note: A background check is required as part of the application process.
Can I volunteer if I don’t have my EMT certification yet?
Yes! You may join the department prior to completing EMT School and earning your certification. We will help you find a local class that meets your schedule. Once you pass the NYS EMT test, you will receive our orientation packet to learn about our operations.
There is also a driver orientation packet that can be completed prior to earning your EMT credential. Drivers must be 21+ years old and hold a valid driver’s license.

I don’t meet the driving requirements. Can I still volunteer with Dryden Ambulance?
Yes, you can still volunteer as a certified EMT.

Can I volunteer with both Dryden Ambulance and Fire?
Yes! Several members participate in both departments.
